call signs

Adding Aircraft Traffic, airport gates, etc, to your Sim - AFCAD, TTools, Project AI, AI Aircraft, etc

call signs

Postby ciuwilliam » Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:01 pm

I have three questions.

1. When I see a plane in the sky it says project ai boeing 737 etc. How do i change that to an airline like US Air or Delta, ai packages that I have downloaded?

2. I downloaded the Air Tran package and my atc uses citrus when referring to the airline. Can I change that?

3. When I hear the atc I never hear two airlines at the same time like US air or delta. Like flying out of Charlotte, NC I always hear US Air and not delta, etc. I know that Charlotte is a hub for US Air, but it isn't the only airline that flys in.

Also, I really would like to get rid of fs9 default commercial traffic. Any help you could give me with any of this would be great

Thanks a lot,
Will

You can change the call sign of any plane you want by changing the line in the aircraft cfg file
atc_airline=DELTA
If you want to remove the default AI do what I did just move the traffic bgl to a different folder out of FS2004 do not delete it in case you want to move it back.
The traficbgl file is in the scenery\world\scenery folder
toward the bottom of the file.
One note here you need to know the proper call sign for each airline or atc will not call it I updated my airlines cfg file by adding to it from a download I found at this site.
I now have all kinds of call signs to use. 8)

The list I downloaded was to add extra call signs since some airlines use callsigns that you would not associate with them. Granted I still do not know what call sign goes with what airline but the added list increases my chances that ATC will recogonize one with out my having to change it. I saw a list somewhere that gives you the call signs of most of the airlines out there.
And yes you have to change each aircraft cfg file if you want ATC to use a different call sign.
Which is why I downloaded the list I have a lot of AI the list helpeed a lot so far i have not heard of any thing wrong yet.! 8)

I downloaded a Kenya Airways package for ai but the atc doesn't reconize the airline. All I hear is the flight number. Can you explain to me again in more detail how to chage the call sign. Thanks
