Not only can you see them but it is possable to run into them in mid flight as well.
If you want to see one you have to be close or use binoculars
If you ever get bored try jumping into the default B747 and go chasing AI aircraft. It breaks up the monotny.
And it is a challange it is not easy to hit a cessna 172 with a B747 as you think it would be .
