AI Wingmen

Postby Boikat » Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:47 pm

Is there a way to do this already (In FS2004 or FSX.  I know they have them in the CFS series)?

I work on Barksdale AFB and the resident A-10's and the occasional visiting F-15's, 16's, and so on, usually travel in pairs.  I think it'd also be cool to fly a cell of B-52's, too (or anything else for that matter).

I think the closest thing to what you're looking to do, could be acomplished with the FSRecorder module. It lets you fly solo while recording the flight, then you can use it's "play as traffic" function to fly with yourself as your own wingman. The only limit to how many "wingmen" you can have is your computers ability to render the traffic. Might be worth a look-see. :)

I might look into that, but the idea is for *him* to follow me. :)

I'm looking more for something similar to whatever system or routine (or macro) is used in the CFS sims. (I have CFS2 and 3, but like FS2004 and FSX much, much better)  Just a little option button that says "Wingman?" and "How many?" like what's in CFS, but in FS9 or FSX, instead.

i think this is a great idea.
there has to be some way to get an airplane to follow you at a set distance or something liike that
unfortunately, im not a programmer so im not very knowledgeable in this area.

Interesting.  The Shockwave Jet Semi has four "Panther" (or "Phantom") wingmen.

Dare I peek?  ;)

Its activated with the flap function. its not even worth it, the visual model isnt very good.

True.  I also noticed that there are a few "air demonstration teams" available.  It's just not the same. :P

I have several MAIW packages containing F-16's, B-1's, Tornado's, Etc... and many of them do fly in pairs. You can get them thru WOAI and install them the same way. A few of my recent screenshots have AI aircraft alongside the aircraft I am flying.

But of course, they are already on a set flight plan, so you basically have to follow them.

My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.
