Water reflections for FS9

Postby PD87 » Fri Aug 10, 2007 2:46 pm

I see FS9 screenshots occasionally with reflective water textures (reflects aircraft, sky, clouds etc..) Wondering if there is a specific add-on or tweak to get this effect? Any help appreciated. Thanks! 8-)

I also need some good Water textures.
Mine are not good, no sun/moon reflections or ripples and looks kinda like FS98 water :o
Maybe it's time for a new Graphics Card :-/

Nono you don't need a new graca for better water!!
If you look for free-ware I suggest you to type in "water" in search on simV :D or something like "water fs9 download" in Google :D
about payware: i myself have got "Flight Environment" for FS9, I just can say its so wonderful........
It gives you thousands of great cloudsets, skies for morning night evening dusk and not what all, many water textures and also a replacement sun!

Ah and one of the most important things, because of textures are not all:
Set these settings in your FS. Many people have these two things turned the wrong way.

And sorry I have a different menu background but its the same.

Hope I helped. Good Luck!

I didn't get it :D
I have taken one of my screenshots....
But it looks a bit unfinished.
I know I can fix it, but don't wanted yet:

Image

Here is how it works:
Open up the picture file you want to have as background.
Select all, and copy it.
Now close your picture prog.
Open up the two files called dlgstd.bmp & dlgstdtrans.bmp in your \Uires.
But make a backup before!
Now paste your copied picture in here. You will maybe need to resize your pasted area.
Save!
Now you can start FS and you will see something like above.
You can't just replace them because I think it's something like 16 bit or maybe only 8. standard pictures have 24 I believe.
This bad-looking thing in there is because of several other files in this folder I will also need to change then.
I haven't figured out, how it works to get a good result, but I'll try in the next days. Oh no I'm away from tuesday to sunday.
So then next week.

I'm working on a completely new menu where I change the look of all buttons and backgrounds etc.
I'll open a new topic next week in Featured Downloads > Flight Simulator.
