Hi folks... :)

The Cessna 337 is one of Cessna's better aircraft, I know, we owned several over the years.

I purchased this Carenado Cessna 337 and quite happy with it but do have a slight problem.

Now don't laugh at me because I have only filled three log books which I now have to look at to remember things... ;D

Getting to the point...

Where does one set the Pre Selected Altitude for the Altitude Hold Button?

I can not find it and have to fly to Altitude and then set the Auto Pilot Altitude Hold which seems a bit off to me.

This is another of Carenados Aircraft that needs a restyled
cockpit with a better COM and GPS Package.

One has to move the mouse across the screen to make changes and that is very unrealistic where the "+ & -" Keys could be used.

I read somewhere on a forum that Carenado was doing an upgrade to the Cessna 337, not sure how true that is but if anyone has redone their cockpit and wants to share it please PM me.... :)

IIRC, most Cessna's either don't have an autopilot, or the ones they have are usually pretty simple, especially if it's an older model. I'm guessing there is only an Alt hold which (like in an F-16) just holds the altitude you press the hold switch at. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Most aircraft that are designed today for Instrument Training or flying during IFR conditions have updated or upgraded cockpits and that includes many private aircraft like the older Cessna's and Pipers.

Here is a Link to one of the many Preselected Altitude Units on the market today and will fit just about any aircraft.

There are several companies where I am alone not to mention the rest of the country and the world that specialize in updating vintage and newer aircraft panels.

Just the other day we saw a Piper Apache in the early stages of being restored and updated with a new cockpit.
It will take another year I think they said.

The owner did not want a glass cockpit but what he is having installed would make an airline pilot sing.

We have had several aircraft panels upgraded and don't think they throw away your old instruments, they don't.

If you are a good horse trader you can get something for them... ;)

I have the FSD 337/O-2 and love it.  BUT, I did discover that unless one has something like the Saitek Multi Panel, you hafta fly to altitude then activate the altitude hold.

The only reason I got the FSD Cessna was that Carenado model didn't have the O-2 variant. 

I almost did get the Carenado though.  It's detail and modelling is quite a few steps above and beyond the FSD 337.
I love the smell of radials in the morning!

I do not know why and there are a lot of folks like me who wonder why these simulated aircraft designers don't do this...

Include on the Disk...
-all modes the real aircraft flew in...like...
---wheels---wheel/ski---ski---float---amphibious floats
-vintage cockpit
-upgraded instrument cockpit with a 3 or 4 axis autopilot,
preselected altitude unit and a good GPS all coupled
together...
-glass cockpit

So it may cost a few dollars more but I think it would be worth it... ;)
