AGVA is in Need of a Repainter

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

AGVA is in Need of a Repainter

Postby coolmanak » Mon Mar 15, 2010 8:44 pm

Air-Glaciers Virtual Airlines, or AGVA for short, is in need of a repainter to finish two unclaimed repaints for our fleet. Our primary repainter has informed us that he will be unable to take on these two aircraft, so we are now taking applications for potential repainters.

The two aircraft we need repainted are HB-CGW (a Cessna 206) and HB-ZEQ (an Alouette III).

Please contact us if you are interested. We ask that you attach a picture displaying your work (in UNEDITED form) and, if you are only interested in doing one aircraft, please specify which aircraft it is that you will be repainting.

Our website email system is unreliable at the moment, so please feel free to contact me at my personal email, akakolbman [at] gmail [dot] com, or simply post here.

Thank you,

Alexander Kolb
Head of Human Resources
Air-Glaciers Virtual Airlines

EDIT:

Here are three examples of current work:

These are just three examples of many fantastic works.

Can you provide links to the actual models you are using, so the base textures can be examined? Nobody wants to repaint a bad set of base textures. After just repainting a terrible Beechcraft Starship, I never want to see a bad set of base textures again.  ;)

And can you post an example of one of your existing repainted aircraft, full aircraft (UNEDITED) and laid out texture sheet? We need to see what kind of quality your other aircraft have been repainted to.

Thanks for those... I will have a look at the aircraft later, to see if they look interesting enough to do. I have tended to stick with personally owned aircraft up to now, but if they're interesting enough, I might have a look.

Here's some links to the 2 repaints I have done for people on here.

The Stinson had a pretty basic texture set, the Carenado was quite the opposite. On the other hand, I had to hand-draw the Squirrel for the Stinson, so that was more interesting.

I actually optimised then for posting as images and then realised it would be above the 600K limit, so there's a bit of extra compression on them.

I presume you have an ident kit, with logos, color swatches etc... ?

Cheers

If you want my advice, choose a different aircraft, or try and find a different version, because this one is a mess.

As a standard procedure, I always overlay a grid to see mapping irregularities... you don't have to look too hard to see them here. It wouldn't surprise me if this is why your other repainter wouldn't do it either.

... and this isn't the worst bit of it either.

Sorry, no matter how good a job your repainter does, this plane will make it look a total mess, and nobody wants that to happen to them.

Edit: If you get another version of the aircraft that isn't like this, ask again on here. I'm not really into helicopters, so I'm afraid I wouldn't really have much interest in that one.

Sorry that I can't help you this time, it will be a brave man that puts their mark on that Cessna.

Thanks for letting me know, but I can't see any abnormalities in the area that actually would be painted.  All the indents, lumps, and bumps appear to be on the top and bottom.

No disrespect, but aircraft repainting, or any texturing for that matter, isn't about trying to fit a design into bits that aren't messed up... or at least, it shouldn't be. I mean, why wouldn't I want to paint the top and bottom? The top and bottom of an aircraft aren't just empty spaces, there are panel lines, rivets etc... I would very probably want to add stuff there but wouldn't be able to.

While a very realistic and fantastic repaint might add this, all we're looking for is something that resembles HB-CGW enough to release it as such.

Our most important aircraft of the fleet, the AS350B, SA315B, King Air 200, and EC120B have been painted already.  The other aircraft are designed to allow our pilots to expand within our VA and fly different things, but are by no means the "hook" aircraft that they will come to our VA to fly.

If a better C206 existed that worked both in FS9 and FSX, we would use it.  However this is all that we have to work with, and we just need something that's good enough to publish.

I understand if you don't want to repaint an aircraft with a lower quality paint intentionally, so I suppose we'll have to find somebody who might not make much of this problem.

Both HB-CGW and HB-ZEQ are still open to repainters.

To help all HB-ZEQ painters:

HB-ZEQ Info:

Font for registration (HB-ZEQ) - Glass Deck
Font for Air-Glaciers logo - Haettenschweiler (this aircraft does NOT contain a special "Swiss Comma", so this will not need to be painted).

Red (bottom half of the aircraft and alternating on tail rotor)

Red: 220
Green: 0
Blue: 0

Yellow (stripes mid way across aircraft and alternating on tail rotor, Danger -> on tail)

Red: 237
Green: 188
Blue: 10

***SPECIAL NOTE***

The HB-ZEQ aircraft in actuallity has Air-Glaciers written on the glass bubble. We, however, do not require this in our repaint.
