Looking for a new cargo plane to fly

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

Looking for a new cargo plane to fly

Postby Aiden327 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:22 pm

I have been searching for 2 days for a MD-11f , 757, or any aircraft that is capable of flying into small airports like KMDT and Jackson Hole.

There are 3 conditions:

- It MUST have a fully functional high quality virtual cockpit as I use FreeTrack and it would be impossible to fly having to pop up a 2d panel ever 3 seconds, not to mention floating in mid is kinda crazy

Re: UPS with dynamic Virtual Cockpit

OK 1st off the default 737 (which has a reasonable VC) is probaly capable of landing at any strip an MD11 can land.

There are UPS,DHL & Fedex textures available here for that. (easy search)

There are several other light a/c with cargo liveries including the above - again a search under your suggested liveries ..

Maybe you can be a little more specific? It's certainly not hard to meet your requests with a simple search on this site. Always go for the most unique aspect in the search - so it would be 'UPS', 'FedEx' , 'DHL' ... not 'boeing' ;)

Also it helps to state FSX/FS2004 when requesting files :)

Thing is i've been flying the defualt for some time now :) I also have te 737 Experiance. I thought id try something new.

I have searched UPS, fedex etc. on simV and avsim and nothing has a VC thats free.

I have tried POSKY, Opensky, Ifly and the ones that have VC's don't have working autopilot panels.

I will keep searching though, and it dosn't have to be boeing. I know for a fact that I rarely see a 737 flying into KMDT and they fly right over my house and loop around 3 mile island for landing. Its mostly CRJ's and dash 8's with a rare Airbus and 737 here and there. There are a few md-11's I see to.

Thank you for your reply,

Aiden

...not to mention the US government 747s and 757 that make common appearances, the two An-124s a year or two ago, the UPS A300s, FedEx 727s, and a slew of charters including the very occasional 747SP which is related to some medical organization that I cannot recall.

KMDT can accommodate pretty much anything...and the A380 would probably be fine there since the An-124s operated there with no problems, and the US "Presidential" 747s and 757s are there routinely. I have yet to see an MD-11 at KMDT, but FedEx's 727s are common.
;)

As for your question, are you absolotely sure the iFly 747 Autopilot in the VC does not work?

You could also try the Continental MD-11 on this page, and apply an addon FedEx or UPS texture to it.

sorry for the plug, but the 737 Experience, by me and my brother, does have an UPS variant, and a DVC like you asked... and it's for FS9

My apologies, I just got a copy of Ultimate traffic 2007 and the AFCAD for KMDT is VERY realistic and it does support parking and gates for a heavy. My last experience with a 747 was the stock kmdt and not being able to park or take off again lol

I love the 737 Experience very much, I have flown all over in it. I just wanted to try something new, I have never flown a MD-11, 80 or 83 and I can't aford the Capitan sim 757 so I'm looking for something new.

Ill rename the threads title as UPS no longer fits.

The iFly 747 works great it just lags alot, the posky I tried was a textured cockpit with no click-able surfaces and most don't come with a VC but I love the models.

That MD-11 looks really good, I can't belive I missed it. I will try that first thing tommarow  :)

Good point, I am new to the area lol. offtopic: During the summer I see a bunch of CRJ's and 737's(737's are rare)fly in down river using a runway 13 aproach (never seen a landing up close) and I here on liveatc.net the approach controller saying "tell me when your ready to make the turn by 3 mile island". Are those jets landing runway 13 or doing a circle behind 3 mile island and landing 31?

I've seen them circle behind the island quite a bit, but both sides of the runway are used often, so it is hard to tell. Keep your eyes open on nice days for the presidential 747 and the increasingly rare 757 doing pattern work there. It's pretty fun to see.

In regard to the sim, the MD-11 I referenced is pretty nice, and I think you'll enjoy it.

Thank you, Im trying it out as soon as its done downloading.

Thanks for the reply on the approaches, every time I try and ask to take a runway 13 ILS approach though the sim tells me to "Circle and land runway 31, which I've never practiced. Maybe the Ultimate traffic AFCAD will work better, I will let you know how the plane works out

The Overland/Simmers Sky MD-11 is freeware. It's not quite the PMDG but for free you can get in and fly without reading a manual for hours. I have a fedex repaint I downloaded from avsim. I believe there's a UPS on there as well.

Thank you, I just tried it and it flys great! Wasn't until I was vectored on to the localizer intercept at runway 31 KMDT when I realized it had no APP hold, and since it had no help with it I ended up stalling 3 times lol. Found out the hard way not to go under 147knt's.

Thank you again :), I was just going to say that I tried 3 diffrent version that didn't work lol..... I even downloaded the original plane from the simmers website. These should work no problem.

I will let you know how this works out as soon as I get back to my regular pc.

-Aiden

Edit- It works perfectly, thankyou  ;)
