This is a depends on your point of view question if I ever saw one. What I like you might not it depends upon what you are looking for. If you want a plane that simulates the real thing as much as possiable then I woud suggest a pay ware aircraft as most of the free ware aircraft do not go into the amount of detail that the payware aircraft does due to time and energy. In no way am I knocking any designers out there as ther are some great aircraft out there I am just speaking from what I know most designers just do not have the time and energy nor the people that the payware manufactures have. But some still manage to reproduce a great looking and flying aircraft and my hat goes off to them and there efforts as I know what is envolved in making a simple aircraft let alone a B747-400. The payware aircraft have teams of designers that work on specific parts of a aircraft then another team puts them together, where the free ware aircraft are usually the result of one person with little or no hair on there head ;D
As for freeware B747-400's there are a bunch out there you just have to go through them it is trial and error IFDG makes some good free downlaods but you can find pleanty here and at www.avsim.com as well. 8)

Depends also on your PC capability; only go for the iFly if you have a high end machine as it really saps processor power. My PC is average, and the iFly is very hard to fly at 3 or 4 fps!

The alternative is the trusty old Project Opensky 747-400, although there is no VC. If you want a VC then there's the default 747 (...) or the iFly.

POSKY all the way, I am a bit of a payware Phobic, OK well maybe thats the wrong word, I just feel that if i get payware, I might get a tad obsessed, and Im skint, so its for my own good!  ;D Seriously considering CLS A340-600 or PMDG 747......... Or FlyTampa's Dubai....
