What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

Jet powered WACO

One of the other discussions prompted me to look for this. Anyone interested? It's Jimmy Franklin's Jet powered WACO. Not only did he upgrade the pistin engine to 350Hp he added a Garrett turbojet underneath. What a plane! You can view a movie of Jimmy Franklins Jet powered Waco here http://www.abbotsfordairshow.com/performers.html just choose the link to Jimmy Franklin.

I was wondering about that myself!
I had the pleasure of witnessing his performance at Dayton and Peoria this summer and was awestruck!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolute talent at its best!!

That Jim LeRoy is pretty damn amazing also!!!!

The problem with a realistic FS version would be that the flight model does not support mixed powerplants.

To be honest I would prefer the original. It might be unusual but this spoils a nice aeroplane. IMHO

I disagree Hagar. I would have two versions. The normal one and the one with the jet. It wouldnt ruin it. I'm not saying I'll never fly the origial but when you have the chance to see it at an air show as I did, you really want to fly for yourself. Just my opinion. ;D

Your probably right though about the mixed power plants. Too bad. :'(

He is right! As always! :-)

It is def. a very interesting thing to see a biplane go straight up! :-) Especially when he has his son strapped to the wing! :-) ;D

I was just looking at the airshow program, the specs show a 450HP piston engine and the jet engine is from a T38 (J85) carries 42 gals of jet fuel as well as 28 gals of 100 octane. Uses 3.2 gals/min. That's $7.50 US per minute! Climb rate is 10,000 fpm wow! No wonder his son has a permanent grin on his face  ;D

Better yet have you watched it in person?!!!!!

During a stop on the air show tour he also participates in Masters of Disater, a mix of him , two other Bi-planes and a Jet powered truck in a all out war with one another.
Trust me left me totally breathless!!!!
When and if the Dayton Air Show 2004 comes out on DVD let me recommend you buy it!!!!

I've seen him at the Morris airshow several times. That plane just jumps off the runway! Anyway, there was just a mixed powerplant Ryan Fireball posted in the CFS2 aircraft section. Maybe, you could use that as a starting point.
