Any repaints Royal Singapore Flying Club (of which I was a member 1965 - 1967)

Hi Lawyer. Completely off-topic but I met a member of this club when I worked at Shoreham Airport in the early 1960s. His name was something like Rayner, maybe you knew him? He had picked up a brand new Piper Comanche from the factory in the US. It was fitted with tip tanks & he had flown it across the Atlantic. He passed through Shoreham on his way out to Singapore. I had the keys to the aircraft in my pocket over the weekend so I could repicket it if necessary. He rewarded me with a flight in the aircraft & a handsome tip. ;)

Sorry, apart from the ones Ivan suggests I can't help with the aircraft. I think I've seen a Belfast somewhere but forget now. It was manufactured by Shorts, not Bristol, if that's any help. You don't say which sim you want these for.

I would point out that it's spelled Seamew, not Seamiew. This might show up better in a search engine but apart from Mike Hill's FS5 model I've never seen another FS version.

Hi Hagar,

#I dont like treacle pudding by the way!!!

I guess I know the possible reason why your stated aircraft was flown out to Singapore (assuming it was about 1966) - we had a beechcraft musketeer in the club.       It crashed in the jungle on a training flight.   I remember the wreckage well in the hangar (not a pretty sight).  I trained on the old chipmunk then converted to the Cessna 150 and thence the 172.    Colours were yellow in the main with red striping.        You are right of course about the spellings (mea culpa).     You are probably right about the Belfast too.    I was stationed at RAF Changi and I remember 2 of these Belfasts came in and stayed for a short while.     Never saw a Belfast again.        I am going to modify my list because I forgot to include the Avro Anson (the first aircraft I ever flew in). Hi Stephen

Regarding the pudding, it's an acquired taste. This might also have some bearing on my age. ;)

The Comanche I'm talking about would have arrived in Singapore some time between 1960 - 62 when I left Shoreham.

Sorry. I haven't seen an Anson either. It's possible there is a CFS2 version I'm not aware of.

Hi hagar,

The Commanche would not have been a replacement for the Beechcraft Musketerr.   Too early.    I recall I have some black and white photos of some of the aircraft and I believe at least one is the Commanche at the RSFc.   I will look them out and maybe send one on to you.    My mother died on Tuesday 13th January 2004 so I`m a little bit absorbed with the arrangements (I have to keep myself occupied otherwise and this is how I do it - apart from work!).    I will get around to looking after Thursday this week after the funeral.   Regards, Stephen (Lawyer).

If Ivan see this, I thank you for the information.   I will check out what you say

To Stratobat.

Finished posting reply to Hagar and then saw your post.  Not quite used to seeing what I am looking at.   New site, new friends.    I will double check from now on.  Thanks for the information.   If you do come across the Anson later please let me know.   Regards

Hi Stephen. Sorry to hear about your sad loss. :(

I would be delighted to see the photos if you can dig them out some time. Those were happy days for me. The Comanche might have been privately owned by Mr Rayner himself or another member rather than a club aircraft.

Glad you found an Anson. If it's FS98 I'm not sure what the quality will be like. You still haven't mentioned which sim this is for. ;)

Hello Lawyer,

I'm sorry to hear about your loss :(

I think I saw some screenshots of the Anson at the BOAC Virtual website. I just went there and it seems like they're temperarily offline. There is a Gmax source file floating around though ;D

http://www.boacvirtual.fsnet.co.uk

Also have a look at the Fleet Air Arm Archive website. They have some FS stuff, but it looks like it's primarily for FS 98.

Hi Hagar

Thanks for the acknowledgment of my loss.

I will dig the photos out soon as I get over this week.   I have one of the chipmunk (in part) with me sitting in the cockpit.    Was getting ready to start up!!!    I have a lot of slides but never got around to getting prints done.   I will do that gradually.

The Sim I am using at the moment is 2002.    I have ordered the 2004.   That said, I have all the sims after 95.

Hi Stratobat,

That`s a fine pictorial of the Anson!     Thank you for your trouble.   I will check out that Fleet Air Arm site.    You learn something new every day.   You should see my favourite menu for sims.   Now there`s another one.

Best wishes

Hello Stephen,

It's got no interior detailing though, shouldn't be too hard to add a few chairs and an instrument panel.

Do you also fly any of the Combat Flight Simulator series?

There's also a few RAF and FAA aircraft out there for CFS 2. I think they would also work in FS 2002.

Regards,
Stratobat

I didn't see anyone mention where to get a Belfast, namely http://www.alphasim.co.uk - it's payware (doh), but a Belfast none the less in RAF and Heavylift colours, for FS2002/2004 and about
