High Quality FS2004?

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

High Quality FS2004?

Postby Scorpiоn » Sun Nov 16, 2003 10:44 pm

As many of you might know, I'm very demanding of my add-ons.  Now that I got FS2004, and wasted a whole day downloading models that were badly missing "small" details, such as the enitre cockpit, I think I'll just ask again.  I downloaded the Mustang Reno racers which were impressive and, boop!  No cockpit.  Nice. :P Not wanting to download another 12 files bound for rejection, what FS2004 or FS2004-convertible planes are there that have:
  • Very good textures - inside and out
  • VC
  • All your standard stuff (animations etc.)
  • Isn't a FPS eater (POSKY)
  • Freeware, naturally
  • Model doesn't have to be super detailed, but not a tube with wings either.
Basically, I'm just looking for an aircraft that is of stock quality.  What kind of aircraft?  I really don't care, it can be anything from a P-40 to a 767, I'll take anything but a biplane.
The Devil's Advocate.

I'm not sure where I found it, but I downloaded a Globe Swift package with 3 variations.  The set VERY good virtula cockpits as well as 2d panels that were very accurate, and to make it even better all 3 versions flew like a dream!

I'll look and see if I can find out where I got it from when I get home tonight...

  • Maule, over stock quality
  • C-119, great VC, interesting design
  • An-24, the new one (RV, not the B). panel has a steep learning curve. Loads of (useless) animations
  • Hawker Sea Fury, all versions, and get the one with the start effects, which look great
  • As Jared says: Bill Lyons freeware re-releases. the piper cub has another upgrade extra: tundra tyres
Russian planes: IL-76 (all standard length ones),  Tu-154 and Il-62, Tu-134 and [url=http://an24.uw.hu/]An-24RV[/ur

Yeah I hear ya on good quality downloads, I've gotten pretty picky about it myself, as I have over 150 aircraft in Fs2k2 and alot of them turned out to be well,...... crap!
But for the very best look to Bill Lyons work at the Golden Eagles Squadron site & I've seen his stuff on SimV and alot of other sites as well. In fact he's the one who made the Globe Swift pkg. Jared mentioned and he has released all his custom classics as freeware just recently. And they are for fs2k4 as well. :P

I might also recomend Long Island Classics "Bellanca Decathalon", and their newest one, the "Bellanca Scout"
Extemely excellent work, inside & out not to mention authentic sounds too(Arron Swindle) ;)

May I suggest The "Maule M-7-260" package over at http://www.fsnordic.net/
file name is "M7260 v1.zip".
While the download weighs in at a modest 61MB, it is worth every second it takes to get it.
I downloaded it back on the 15th of this month and already have 38.6 hours logged on it. Hehehe thats more time than I have spent at work this week. IMHO it is a very nice and detailed plane, looks great, flies great, and I have not noticed a frame rate drop at all.
I was flying online the other day and four of us had this plane going at the same time and noone had a FPS drop. That alone has to say something about this plane.
Anyways, I guess ill stop blabbering now.

Kevin

EDIT: Oops, I just noticed that this plane was already listed. sorry
