FS2K2 Racing Mustang

What aircraft have you been unable to find after a long search? There may be an answer!

FS2K2 Racing Mustang

Postby Scottler » Fri Aug 29, 2003 8:46 am

I'm in search of a North American P-51D Mustang with a racing cfg file.  (Or just the .cfg if it's available) that will fly in FS2K2.

I've found one for CoF, and perhaps that .cfg will be compatible, I don't know.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

;D
Great edit, Bob.

Scott I'm working on a suitable 2k2 'Stang at the moment with Rollerball. I'm hoping to get the FDs sorted, then Roger will test them and we release. So hold on to your horses for a couple more days ;)

Mark

Ps. The physical model is a CFS2 one, and it looks fabulous, the VC is amazing!

Ya know, somehow I knew that you'd be the first reply to this Oz, although I have to admit, I thought you'd be laughing at me.

After all the trash talking I did about your Spitfire, I definitely deserve it.  lol

I've got a great 'Stang right now, but it's a standard flight 'Stang...not the racer I'm going to need to beat you.  lol

Thanks!  Can't wait to see it!  (And if you need test pilots, you know where I am!)   ;)

Tell you what Scott, you send me the details of the exact racing model you want (technical), and I'll see if I can't make a second set of FDs for that specific aircraft for you. Then you'll just have to repaint it, 'cos I'm artistically challenged (small understatement!).

Mark ;)

PS. I've always understood that not everyone is as passionate about the Spit as me. You can't help your lack of good taste, its genetical ;D

Pauls site has been out of action for a while now, rumour has it he's been snapped up by one of the payware outfits, smart move 'cos he is a great designer!
The Reno Racers pack I was a little disappointed with, they look great, and the 2d cockpit is nice, but they just don't feel right against what I've read of real 51s.
Maybe its just personal preference.

I'm pleased to announce that both the racer and standard FDs are undergoing beta testing at the moment (yup Scott is learning to be a test pilot ;D).
They'll be released on Rollerballs site once testing is completed.

Ps. Daz, you're not wrong mate ;)

Yes, but the package just wasn't that good in my opinion, and then some better visual models arrived, and Scott talked me into doing a decent racing model, via RollerBall getting me involved in making a CFS2 model flyable in 2k2 (I must remember to stop volunteering!). Hell, lets just enjoy flying warbirds ;D ;D ;D

I thought the same thing for the Reno racers too.  I decided to change their CFG (it is really easy!) to a more racer type.  Luckily I had a magazine that was featuring Vodoo.  I changed the horsepower to 3600 and the prop rpm to 3500 which makes it much more similar to racers (especially Vodoo).  At low level I will get roughly 410 kts.............much better than before.

True, the FDs might not be good, but it's the best gmax  model i've seen.

You know of some better visual models? Are they gmax models with reflective textures?
