mdl but not xml.

Postby nandi » Thu Sep 03, 2009 2:17 am

Hey.
I`m a beginner.
I got FS 9 and it works well.
I learned a lot of things.
Now I make my own airports.
On my airports I want parking aircrafts in the easiest way as object.
But therefore I need xml data from the default or downloaded aircrafts.
I`m able to make aircrafts with GMax.
After converting there are mdl and xml.

What I could

This is pretty simple to do if you have an understanding of how AI works.

There is a nice tutorial in the Avsim library (couldn't find it here).

Here is a link - http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=64570

Hope this helps,
Joe

Hey Joe.
I found it,I did it,it works fine.
Thanks.

Sorry this isn`t it I want.
Why ?
I must fly in a timewindow to see it in AI.
I want to see it, when ever I come.
even outside of an airport in a szenery.

The best way is as staticobject.
MS has had an utility mdl to xml in earlier time on their CD.
May bee I find it and it works?

If you go to the FSDeveloper site, under the Downloads section are a couple of tools that will;

1. Allow you to take you MDL file and make it into a object library,

2. Allow you to take that object library created in #1 and place objects, generating a placement BGL file.

Don't know if you must be registered to download stuff?

Don't think that will work as scenery models are different from aircraft models.

Scenery models include reference to textures, aircraft don't. They get their texture reference from the aircraft.cfg.

But I might be wrong.

Joe

Hey all.
@ meshman
thanks for the link.
But there I could not find mdl to xml.

@ JoBee.
Your idea is right I think.
But maybe after converting mdl to xml textures are included ??

Perhaps there is another way.
In FS it is allowed to declare an aircraft as static.

[fltsim.5]
title=Cessna Skylane 182S (Static 1)
sim=Cessna182S
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=4
kb_checklists=Cessna182S_check
kb_reference=Cessna182S_ref
atc_id=N882LS
ui_manufacturer=Cessna
ui_type="C182S Skylane"
ui_variation=C182 (Static 1)
atc_parking_types=RAMP
atc_parking_codes=Kee

I am going to be trying

Hey.
On my old harddisk outside I found Mdl to Bgl.
What a surprise.
In the describition, it should be for FS 98 and 2000.
So I think it doesn`t work in FS9 ?

Now I made an airport with afcad somewere else.
OK.
I saw the runway .
But it was a little bit wrong.
Trees and smal hills.
After flatten and exclude,
