Help wanted

Postby commoner » Mon Dec 17, 2007 4:29 am

Hi all...I have just started to get interested in putting together a little fictitious airport with a view to learning the ropes mainly but maybe to do a version of some real airfields near where I live.......I am using at present...FlattEx to exclude and flatten with obviously AFCAD and also RWY12 to place objects.......

Just a simple exercise as you can see from my pics but I have hit a little problem....

For some reason I can't get objects to show over to the right of the runway...in AFCAD I can put another apron area or what have you but with RWY12 the objects will not show even though the same object shows on the main area......
I don't have enough experience to know what is wrong........I wanted to make a firestation area over there but no chance at the moment...

Any ideas gratefully received......commoner ;)

:)Hi Commoner

first the firt
A good software to builds and entire airport and anything this one Flight Simulator Scenery Creator software like this creates the visual ,like taxyways ,runways ,houses, tower control everything you want ,by selecting in the Macros and roads you can Draw them very easy..

and I hope you are using FS9..BTW!, just a reminder is Afcad221 ,many people get confuses with the older afcad (for FS2002)..to create the airport traffic or existance ,Ils ,VOR, ATC, ground trafic, runways, etc,Not Phisicaly ,(just a few things)

I don't understand very well you question ,Do you mean you want Ground Trafic (aircrafts) in the parkings spaces you selected? If you select to Heavys aircraft and the airport is not design for 747 ,727 etc ,you won't see anything in those parking spaces Due that is a small airport , a rwy too short perhaps, you have to create for smaller aircraft parking spaces , as far I can see ,three of this spaces are for heavies aircraft

Commoner,

My first thought is it may be a priority problem. Though I create .bgl files1 for my flattens and excludes, I'd guess that using Scenery.cfg switches, as your doing, still requires proper priority.

An exclude will remove the selected objects from any 'scenery area' that is drawn before it, i.e.- will remove objects from any 'area' visibly below it (thus drawn before it)

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hi Al..thanks for your reply....I am using  the right version of AFCAD and am totally happy with the way it is going  I have AI traffic landing and taking off I have installed ILS and all the other stuff..buildings , lighting etc...the ONLY thing I want to do is some work where I have highlighted YELLOW here on the right side of the runway. RWY 12 will not display any buildings etc that I try to place there.....

MY ONLY question is WHY NOT?

There is no obvious reason that I can see......

I realize there may be better software but am happy with this stuff for now..........commoner ;)

Hi Dave thanks for all that I will look into what you have said and hopefully make some sense to it although I only did one flatten and exclude right at the beginning and that I pasted right at the bottom of the scenery.cfg ....and can place stuff ANYWHERE in that area  with the exception of, as I said this highlighted part with no problem so why is that bit different?   Most confusing....commoner :-/

BTW does that Flatten need a registered FSUIPC file I only have the free copy!

Hi Dave.....answer YES to all your questions and the objects DO appear........along with the trees on runways etc.........but why when the whole area is covered by the same exclude I wonder?

Actually I don't need all that area covered to remove what I want to so maybe I should do a smaller exclude area and try that.........still puzzled though :-/

Thanks for all that .....I may be able to proceed from here...but I will certainly get the software and move to .BGLs instead of the switches in the .cfg file.....will let you know how I get on...

Must go get my chicken and chips now...her who must be obeyed calls....commoner ;)

WOW..Dave...thanks for all that........not so simple as I first thought this business ;D

I am now getting my old grey cells round that and am sure will find the best way forward (eventually)

MEANWHILE...I have made the exclude to just cover the stuff I want out with as little overlap as possible and it is at least letting me do what I originally asked for...as I said it is my first effort and when I have learned some more I will probably abandon that and try to get it right........(let the trees grow back eh!)

...Thanks again for your help..ever grateful....commoner ;)
