Freeware?

Postby FSGT Gabe » Fri Oct 27, 2006 11:40 am

Hi guys, I'd like to try my hand at designing some scenery.  What I'm wondering is if there is a freeware scenery design program similar to EZ-scenery.  Is there anything free or are they all payware?  Thanks so much!

There's Airport 3.0, their regular site is down but you can get the latest build here: http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/airportsupport/
Also there is FSSC but they havn't updated it since December 03: http://www.fssc.avsim.net/

There are a number of packages available and it comes down to personal preference on what to use depedning what you want to create.

If you intend creating your own bespoke buildings etc rather than libraries then I would use:

Gmax -  to create buildings etc
obplacer by arno - to place the mdls created in Gmax
AFCAD -  to alter runwyas, taxiways etc
Sbuilder - for flattens, ground poly underlays
exlcudebuilder2 - remove default objects
any reasonable paint program to create textures
DXTbmp - to convert textures to format used by FS

Have fun

The closest thing to EZ-S that's free is Rwy12. Better to pony up the thirty-bucks a buy EZ-S.

But. more importantly, Frankie_4_Fingers is sportin an All-New signature . . . eat your heart out Frankie:

I just did a library search at avsim for "Exclude" under Flight Simulator 2004 - Scenery Design and found a link under the David Marshall tutorial download.
