Recently we've seen this new gauge for VTOL operations. I didn't tryed it yet, but from the video it seems that it uses some "slew" functions to get the aircraft hovering, right ? It's cool that it works, but it's not very good looking, at least on the videos.
So here is a question for all the gauge coders here.
Lots of us already tried setting the wind to 120 knots and making a vertical takeoff or landing

This would allow a pretty clean VTOL don't you think ? If the gauge would activate the "wind-control" only with full flaps, it would allow the aircraft to act much more like the real stuff. It would also allow side-steps, reverse, and all that kind of horizontal moves.
But I really don't know anything about gauges, and I'm not even sure that the wind could be handled by a gauge. This simple idea came to my mind some days ago and I just would like to know what do you guys think of that.
