polytex bitmap for wakes??

Postby mag_ddave » Sat Mar 13, 2004 8:55 pm

??? Howdy all,got a question. I want to create a wake for a carrier scenery I've built for cfs2.I've tried using a polygon with wake texture (Airport 2.60), came out crummy.I used EOD to make an api with texture, same result.I am totally inept when it comes to painting so i need to 'borrow" texture but what ever i try comes out pixelated ( yes, already made a image set with bmp2000,still stinks) so anyone out there have an answer on how to put a nice wake on a

mag_ddave,

Have you tried using the wake texture from CFS 2 (wake2.bmp)?

I think CFS 2 also accepts 512x512 bitmaps, so if you enlarge the texture and then use PSP for instance to blur it a little, maybe it won't look so pixelated ???

:o Yep, tried that.Kina funny funny because EOD says it's an invaild bitmap( maybe for EOD) I used the one named WAKE.bmp too. but they all look kind of funky.I guess I'm gonna have to learn how to use

mag_ddave,

Wow... The base looks awesome 8)

What are the fps like?

I guess I'm gonna have to learn how to use PSP instead of ms paint

Have you tried Pixia?

It also comes with a blurring tool :)

:o Thats one of the first things i found out about was the frame rate issue.I have a tendency to overbuild and i had to remove a lot of scenery objects to keep the frame rates half decent. The worst are sitting on the runway and pointing

mag_ddave,

Awesome screenshots ;D

I'm not sure it this will increase the fps by a lot, but try putting all the texture for a macro on the same bitmap, that way the game doesn't have to read a few bitmaps to texture one macro.
