Freeware Mesh Design??

Postby Mike Thurman » Mon Mar 01, 2004 9:50 am

Does anyone know where i can find a freeware terrain mesh creator that works for FS2004. I want to build a little island for FS with one.

Thanks

download file:  srtm_to_bgl_104.zip from avsim.

This progrma create mesh for fs2002 ans f2004

SRTM_TO_BGL automates the production of FS2002 mesh scenery from Nasa's SRTM 1 arc second (30 metre) and 3 arc second (90 metre) data. The program creates a batch file and .INF file ready for use with the SDK mesh tools. Very easy to use!!! Version 1.04 adds some new features and bug fixes. (CW)

Hi Mike

I think you mean you want to create a fictious island, Right?

I've never done this before but if you use Airport for Windows and lay a sand or gravel polygon down in the spot where you want the island it should create a flat sea level surface.  Then you add another polygon ontop using the same number of "points" but assign it a 1 meter or 3'-4'-5' altitude I was told this will create above sea level land.

The key as it was explained to me was to make sure the 2nd polygon had the SAME amount of points.

Remember, I haven't tried this myself. :)
