Flatten, and create runway utility, for FS 2002..?

Postby Fozzer » Thu Dec 18, 2003 2:12 pm

Hi All... 8)....!
Can you lead me to a simple, (very simple!), FS 2002 utility to flatten* a selected area and create a hard/grass/dirt runway ready to accept LAGO's FSSE objects.
An example would be to create a Bush, etc,  runway where one does not at present exist.

(Chuck Dome has one on page 4 of Sim V Scenery Design Utilities, but it's for FS5, FS'98, CFS and FS 2002, and I don't know if it will work for the later FS 2002/FS 2004 series...)...?
Many thanks... ;)...!

Cheers all... ;D...!
Paul.

* ...if possible, and also remove any existing objects, (default trees, buildings, etc.).
Win 8.1 64-bit. DX11. Advent Tower. Intel i7-3770 3.9 GHz 8-core. 8 GB System RAM. AMD Radeon HD 7700 1GB RAM. DVD ROM. 2 Terra Byte SATA Hard Drive. Philips 17" LCD Monitor. Saitek Cyborg X Fly-5 Joystick. ...and a Briggs and Stratton Petrol Lawn Mower.

Hi Foz. I've told you many times before - try FSSC. ::)
http://fssc.avsim.net/

Flattening an area & removing default objects with FSSC is not difficult once you understand the basics. When you get used to it you might find that you don't need FSSE. :P ;)

Ta Doug... ;D...!
Just downloaded it. Will give it a try, but it's got to be simple... ;)...!
..Oh...
...and I'll still continue to use FSSE, just to annoy you, if nothing else... ;D...!
..together with my FS Navigator... ;)...!
(I love all this Payware "stuff"...).... ;D... ;D... ;D...!
Tee-Hee...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!

Do you know what...?
Remember I said "Simple*"...?
Well I fiddled and far*ed around with FSSC to create a simple* runway until my eyes bled.... :'(...!
I created the xx.bgl file for my desired location, stuck it in my scenery folder, flew to the site....
...nuffin'... ::)...!
So I downloaded Chuck Dome's excellent, (simple*!), little program, (436K), and the whole thing worked an absolute treat.... ;D.... ;D... ;D...!
Choice of Tarmac with numbers, grass, concrete or dirt.
All done in 30 seconds... ;D...!

..an example of my little site with it's FSSE objects and it's new grass runway...
...lubbly-jubbly... ;D...!

*I love the word "Simple". It often goes with the word "Quick"... ;)...!

Well done old bean. ;D

It does look a handy little utility at that.
As I've said many times - it's a matter of preference so try all possible alternatives & judge for yourself. What suits me obviously won't suit everyone. I find FSSC simplicity itself. ;)

Hi Roger...
Leave San Francisco International.
Tune to Sausalito VOR 116.20.
Pass over.
Re-tune to Point Reyes VOR 113.70.
Fly there.
Fozzers Point Reyes airstrip. Bearing:
N 038* 03.34'
W 122* 57.22'
Watch out for sailing boat masts if flying in low, heading 270 degrees.

Tea and bacon sarnies are on me at the FBO... ;D...!

Cheers... ;)...!
