CFS2 scenery prob

Postby Rugglesbie » Wed Dec 10, 2003 6:27 am

Whenever I try to go into the scenery library I get an error message: Area FS2000_props is required and cannot be turned off. I don't recall telling it to try to turn it off. Anyone know what is up? And a fix?

I've not come across this one before. My only suggestion is to check the Scenery.cfg entry for the area in Notepad. This is what mine looks like. Unless you're running off a Minimal install of CFS2 yours should be the same.

[Area.011]
Title=FS2000_props
Local=Scenedb\fs2kprop
Active=TRUE
Layer=11
Required=TRUE
Remote=

My entry was the same except for the last line: Remote=   , was not at the bottom of the entry. I added it and still got the notice.  I added a 3rd party scenery folder in the addon folder then created an entry in the scenery.cfg file for the scenery manually:

[Area.013]
Title=test scenery
Local=ADDON\test scenery
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=12

The above entry is how it looks now. I had entered it as [Area.012] and the , Remote=, I had at the bottom of my manual entry. When I ran the sim it rewrote the .cfg to what is listed above. I could go into the scenery library without getting the notice. No more problems. I can add scenery now! But when ever I go into the scenery library the test scenery is turned off in the check box. I added another scenery then it was  turned off when I went into the scenery library. But test scenery which was right below the new scenery in the check box was staying checked. I guess cfs2 trys to turn off the top listing in the check box, whenever you enter the scenery library. Since I had no 3rd party scenery loaded it was trying to uncheck the top default listing which was FS2000_props.

I suspect a Reinstall of CFS2 would be the only sure way to fix it. That's Reinstall - NOT Uninstall/Install. If you decide to try it please read the item in the red box on my CFS2 FAQ page first. http://www.simviation.com/lair/cfs2faq.htm
