I'm almost certain that FS Panel Studio is based on CfgEdit. This makes a backup copy of Panel.cfg each time you modify it. I never rely on utilities with an automatic backup feature. The way I work is to take a backup copy of the complete Panel folder (or any other file/folder) before attempting to modify it.
This is the quickest & easiest method I know to back up a file/folder:
Right-click on the Panel folder & select Copy.
Then right-click anywhere in the same window & select Paste.
You will now have a new folder named Copy of Panel.
Leave the backed up folder in the parent folder of the aircraft it belongs to & rename it with any name you wish. I use the conventional FS folder naming conventions, Panel.0, Panel.1 etc. This allows me to swap panels if I wish by editing the panel= entry in Aircraft.cfg.
