Missing gauges

Postby ubalmoral » Fri Aug 01, 2003 1:05 pm

I posted this on the FS98 forum, but haven't got any response, so I'm hoping you wizards of plane and panel design can help.
I downloaded the Nakajima Kate off simviation and I really like the plane, but there are no gauges except the magnetic compass on the panel.
The documentation says there should have been a gauges file when it unzipped. The panel does have the modern radio stack.
I tried copying gauges and renaming them (kate.whatever) like showed up as missing files when I checked it with FS converter, but that didn't work.
I substituted a panel from a Zero in the Kate panel folder and it works, but the radio and VOR are gone.
If anyone knows where I could get the gauges file or any way around this I'd be grateful.

I assume that your downloaded plane was for Fs2002 or an earlier version. When you downloaded the plane in question did another folder named gauges show up. This is common with some downloaded planes. If not redownload the plane again and when you open it with winzip look at the files and see if there are any with *.gau extensions. If so these are your gauges. Put them in the gauges folder of Fs2002 and it should work.
Post again if you have further problems.

Thanks for the reply and info.
I got the problem fixed over the weekend by downloading the Val dive bomber. I did get a gauges file with that one and as I suspected, it used the same instruments. I went into the Kate panel and renamed the gauges (val.) instead of (kate.) and they showed up and work OK. I don't know if that was the best way to do it, but it worked.
Thanks again.
