Runway texture problems

Postby Oz » Sat Jun 07, 2003 12:14 am

I was 'experimenting' with runway textures and now ive got something like this on my runway

Image

Why are the textures...'tiled' like that? Is there a probem with the color depth or compressing or soemthing?

Hope you kept backups of the originals!

a) Don't know for sure, but are the originals extended bmps and yours not? Always need to check first by trying to load originals as extended into DXTBmp

b) Have you kept original size eg not reduced a 256x256 down to 128x128 or similar?

You can download better runway textures than the MS default.  I have the ones with skid marks.  Look in the scenery library.

Another thing that can cause this checker boarding effect is if you ever at anytime save the texture file in jpg format. Or if you import a layer that was in jpg format. Try to keep everything from beginning to end in bmp format. If you do decide to use a layer from a jpg file, first convert it over to bmp before shuffling things around.

I have no idea why this happens but it does for some reason.

Cheers,
Chris
