FSSC help needed

Postby vaavi8r » Fri May 02, 2003 8:43 am

I have created a new airstrip for the Margarita Air Club and the base scenery looks fine, but there are some minor things wrong with it that I have not been able to fix.  I was hoping someone would like to take a look at it for me and suggest some fixes.
If you are interested, please let me know.  I have posted these problems to Derek Leung's help desk, but I know he is very busy.
Thanks

What sort of "things" are wrong? Is this scenery for FS2k2?

Asking to see if it is within my realm of expertise with FSSC.

First of all, I have the number son the pavement of the runway wrong.  Runway 19 shows as 1, etc....
Secondly, I have a floatplane ramp that goes down a hill to the waters edge and the ramp seems to "float" about 4 feet above the water.  I tried to correct the elevation, but it wont take.  The plane will follow the contour of the land and goes into the water, but the concrete texture is still floating above the ground.  This problem only appeared after I went back into fix a problem with the ILS and radio frequencies.  When I first created the scenery, it looked perfect (see the screenshots from the website at http://ww.freewebs.com/margarita_air/)
Thirdly, I cannot get any of the macros to appear other than a basic FS2k control tower.  I have had to resort to using LAGO's FSSE to get some static objects, but would much rather add them to the base scenery in one file.
The scenery is designed for FS2k2 PRo using FSSC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  If you want to take a look at the scenery, you can download the original scenery from the website, or I can email you the zip for the newer file that I am having the latest problems with.
Thanks for any help!

Emailed you back Todd. Send along the scasm and I will play with it. If I need any textures, I will download the scenery to get them.

Seems I had a similar problem before on a surface. The runway number is probably going to be in your heading designation.

Will give it a shot and see what we can do with it.

Thank You so much, Fireman!!
Your instructions and tips were a godsend!!  Thanks for helping out a newbie, now that you explained it it all seems simple.
I took your scasm and have startted adding the macros.  Once it is ready, I will give you co-author credits on the website.  Thanks again!

Great Tood!! Glad it worked out for you. But don't give me credit on the scenery. That's your baby and YOUR scasm. I just fixed a few common problems that occur with new designers using FSSC.  If you like, just mention a thank you for getting you straight on some  FSSC issues or however you want to word the thank you. That's all I did. Like I said, the scenery is yours, scasm is yours and that will be  ALL your work.

It's fun to play with FSSC and everytime I design some new scenery, CFS2 only so far, I learn something new.

Anyway, hang in there and play with it. Enjoy and take plenty of breaks to maintain your sanity.
