More questions about repainting!

Postby todayshorse » Thu May 15, 2008 11:08 am

Just a little somthing ive come up against for the first time.

Heres my next project. Ignore the wrong engines and other things im simply testing out various things ive done by simply replacing various textures in an already complete folder to save messing with things until ive got it how i want it!

The logo on the front fuselage - when i placed it on the a/c it didnt go right to the top of the roof as it now does on the a/c.

I read somewhere that once ypu place things above a certain height on the fuselage this sort of thing occours as the texture is 'stretched' round the model.

Ive tried altering the logo, but it alters the whole thing and it looks 'odd'. How do i get the logo not to go right to the join line on the fuselage but still maintain its ratio and 'look' yet still have it in the right place? :-/

You have to counter distort as I mentioned the other day

Select just the top portion and squash that section a little...that is scale down height only...just maybe the top 10 percent of the logo

Then when the model stretches it will pull it to the correct position

How much you need to alter and by how much is trial and error.

When the model is only mapped left and right the top and bottom is pulled around so you need to aim to find that exact position and keep below that.

OK cheers Garry, ill give that a go. ..and again thanks for your informative reply:)

I suppose if i broke up the logo into words and the stripe and layerd them seperate it would make it easier, as i could alter the stripe without it effecting the words.....hmm

But i guess it doesnt matter if i can select just the top bit of the logo - they way i was doing it was just making a mess of it!

I can see much faffing with this bit coming up :D

Always easier when you have layers for any kind of manipulation

This sort of thing is really a trial and error but you will find it easier after a while.
