little repaint help please

Postby Cuda03 » Thu Oct 04, 2007 10:21 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and I had a quick question.

What format do I save a jet skin at when I repaint it?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome to SimV!!! I know nothing of repaints but tonnes of people here DO. I hope you find your answer soon. You'll come to like it here.

P.S. Don't ask what the badgers are all about. ;)

depends on the model, look at some of the textures already there, they are the size and format that you want to save 'em at.
Usally they are 24b or 32b .BMP files with alphachannel, and you'll need a little program called DXTbmp to convert normal .bmp's to the right type. You can find DXTbmp here: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm

good luck!

Thanks for the Welcome :)

I'm a big Ferrari fan, and there is a F-104 that is painted Ferrari red with a Ferrari logo on the side...
I have the jet in my sim, but not much luck finding that texture.

This is what I was lookin for.

Is that "crash-rocket" your model ? My hobby is modell building, are you, too?
Hmm, a little joke for that powerful fighter:

What do you have to do if you want to have a Starfighter ?

Just go into your garden and wait!

;D ;D ;D

Actually that is a REAL paintjob. I've seen it around, we've not got it here but I think it is over at Flightsim.com ;)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Just remember that the "prancing horse"  insignia was first flown on Nieuports in WW1 by the Italian ace, Francisco (note I'm using the Spanish spelling) Barraca.  His family allowed Enzo Ferrari the use of the insignia for his Scuderia Ferrari.

Using the Ferrari logo/prancing horse insignia on a Starfighter sort of brings "back"  the insignia to the skies, eh?
