ahh...you can Derek, but after spending the time and effort you never get something that looks like a REAL aircraft - which is the objective of most serious repainters.
For that you have to be able to apply markings, decals etc EXACTLY where they are on the real aircraft you are trying to copy. So anyone trying to do a proper EasyJet repaint would be wasting their time with the default 737.
Likewise if you want to do a realistic repaint of your club's 172, you'd be wasting your time with the default Skyhawk.
But for sure, if you just want to change the colour scheme a bit and use the the sim's method of applying a registration (weedy thin black lettering, because you can't paint proper registrations on each side of the fuselage and the wings and/or the tail fin of the default planes) the defaults are perfectly OK to mess around with.
But if you want to paint seriously, sorry they're a waste of time.
The Baron and Learjet are better than the others because you have separate fuselage sides and tail fins but I'm still not sure about the wing surfaces because I've never painted em.
