777-300 Base Texture

Postby Overspeed » Fri Apr 21, 2006 4:58 pm

Where can I find the base texture bmp files to the default beoing aircraft? I checked in the base folders, but when i open it up, it looks like it, but it is all messed up... i'll post an image if needed. I found a file on a tutorial which had the texture file for the 737, but it was in FS2002. Where can i find one for FS2004 for the default 777-300?

Try opening the DXT3 default B773 base texture using Martin Wright's FREE DXTbmp(x) This is not a paint_kit but a base texture.

If your looking for the actual blank textures, go here:

http://simviation.com/fs_paintkits1.htm

otherwise, as mentioned above, use dxtbmp, OR my prefered program: Imagetool, to convert the textures into a format you can edit (either 24 or 32bit) and then back into a format FS will read (commonly 8bit (aka 256 colour) or 32Bit, or dxt3)

(I can get download links to both if you need)

Im trying to do the Air India tail onto the default 777. Is there a better way to place it in rather than attempting to draw it?

"Is there a better way to place it in rather than attempting to draw it?"

Yes . . . use the Polygonal Lasso Tool (Photshop does not have a Bezier Tool) and Copy the outlined section to a new layer and CTRL-T to Resize and use the EDIT/TRANSFORM/FLIP VERTICAL or EDIT/TRANSFORM/FLIP HORIZONTAL to fit the righthand side of the paint_kit.

It may be a moot point but Air India doesn't fly B773s.

P.S. Repainting (or attempting to repaint) most FS9 default aircraft will prove to be an exercise in futility as the paint_kits are mirrored; everyhing will be reveresed on the opposing side or the aircraft. May I suggest getting a
