converting files,

Postby aeromike » Thu Jan 13, 2005 6:01 pm

Hi my name is mike,  :)

I recently bought a V22 and it came with extra files for repainters. I thought it would be cool to repaint my aircraft, but they need to be in BMP format right? I have been trying to find file converters and I cant seem to find anything that will convert PSD format to BMP format. Can someone help me?

Oh and yea I am 14 so I am a newbie, at pretty much everything in flight simulator, so take me lightly please ;)

Hey, It is true that files need to be in bmp format to work in FS, but its way better to construct them in PSD, PSP.. (anything with layers)..

You can then use Imagetool, which can read PSD's directly, to convert it to an FS bitmap (DXT3 or 32Bit),

or

You can save the PSD as a regular bitmap (using Photoshop or PSP), and use DxtBmp to convert the normal bitmap, into one that FS will read (eg DXT3 (compressed) or 32Bit (un-compressed format).)

DXT Bmp is here: http://www.simviation.com/fsdesign_utilities.htm

If you want Imagetool then its part of the Terrain SDK
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsi ... ds_sdk.asp
or i can probably e-mail a copy to you.

Hope this is of use to you, give's a shout if you need any more help.
