Firebird F-16

Postby matthew954 » Sat Nov 20, 2004 10:36 am

I'm working on my next repaint, but strangely enough, the textures on the top half of the airplane do not show up in flightsim.  I've tried changing the file format but that doesnt work.  I do not believe there is a programming error because the plane shows up in the program.  Any help is appreciated.

Just the top half? Looks like a problem with 'fuse TOP.BMP' make sure its the right size: 1024 x 1024 and make sure its saved as dxt3 or 32bit (as per B25).

I tried that just now, and it didn't work.  To say the least I'm stumped.  I tried several formats, but to no effect.    :(

hmmm curious, if you want to send the file i'll pop it into mine and see what happens.

have yoy changed the file name or anything? i dont know if their case sensitive or not.

or... make a copy of a working file.. then copy the image from the 'broken' one to the working one, and save, see if that works.

I'll send you my art files.  I got pissed off and destroyed all the finished bitmaps.  The files are photoshop PSD's.

I'm also having similar troubles with my new F-22 Arctic Raptor I'm working on.  This time the whole plane with all my custom textures dont show up.  If you get the Firebird up and running, tell me what you did, so I might be able to fix the Raptor.

Imagetool, Whats that.  Also, what did you think of the aircraft.  I'm using DXTBmp and the textures have not been working correctly.  I began having troubles after my first repaint.  It worked fine up to that point.

Imagetool is a small program that does the same as DXTbmp, but it can open PSD's   :)

I dont know if its on simV but heres a different link to it

I've tried using Imagetool on my F-22.  But I keep getting the same results.  FS won't read my custom textures.  And when I try to input the regular textures.  They don't work either.  I just keep getting setback after setback.

hmm, dont loose heart! They did work on mine so it cant be too serious. I must be something in thw way yor saving them or i'd notice it on mine too.

just to be sure i'll go step by step:

assuming your using a PSD file:

1) save psd

2) start imagetool

3) open psd file(s)

4) save as (not SAVE as this will overwrite the psd and make all hell break loose) the appropriate bmp (the psd is already 32bit and so you need not change the format)

this should be it!

If you are just re-painting a bmp, then

1) save bmp

2) open image tool

3) load bmp

4) Image [menu]... Format[menu item]... 32BIT

5) Save As appripriate bmp.

That should be right, thats all i did with your psd's on my system.
