I do like most of POSKY's work, but unfortunately, I don't think they run well on the "average machine".  If you've got a slightly higher end box, then you're set, and they're beautiful.

But when running a virtual airline, you've gotta look at that "average machine" constantly, because a lot of guys have lower end units, and the POSKY stuff will kill their framerates....
Great edit, Bob.

Not as much as Meljet. I still fly POSKY stuff but I've stopped using Meljet even though they're very nice.

Personally I find all the visual toys like opening everything very childish. When are you supposed to look at them? This is a flightsim, not a sit-on-the-ground-and-play-with-little-doors-opening-and-closing sim.

If designers want to make planes with all that stuff they might think about doing 2 models - one for the kids who like to play with gimmicks and one for the serious flyers.

Just a thought for the people who this will upset.

Everyone complains about frame rates and everyone wants better, more detailed, more life-like scenery.

Surely anyone can see that when you're flying a plane with all these features that you're not using at the time, you're paying a FR hit even though all you're doing most of the time is flying a panel. Then if you try to fly the same plane into a detailed scenery you pay yet another FR hit.

Which is the most worth it? I'd say the scenery because that's what I see most as a sim pilot. So I go for the best scenery I can get and simple well-designed, well painted aircraft with good panels.

I don't give a **** that when I've finished maybe a 2 hr flight with all the IFR trimmings that when I've parked up I can then see a little door open.

C'mon get a life! My wife thinks I'm crazy enough as it is with a hobby like this without seeing me doing that ::)

You might have a point there Roger. The only problem I can see would be in getting them to do it. This hobby caters for all tastes. It's possible to make FS into almost anything you like. What interests some, others would find incredibly boring. I doubt that any 2 members on this forum have their sims set up in the same way.

The same applies to designers as much as the users. Some are interested in the "serious" side of FS while others like extending their knowledge & imagination by including all the bells & whistles possible. In the end, all Freeware designers do it for their own pleasure first & foremost. If it turns out OK they might upload it for others to enjoy.

A good friend of mine is a panel designer. I often kid him that he would be quite happy flying around in an invisible aircraft fitted with one of his panels. He admits there is some truth in this. It takes all sorts. "You can please some of the people" & all that. :P ;D
