Righto. Using Photoshop I have managed to design a wheel that looks 3D using the lighting effects filter. Doesn't look bad but I haven't tried it yet.

You said download FRHED and as far as I can see this is the link:

http://63.217.26.8/files/1misc/frhed156.zip

But it is dead. I get a 404 Not Found error when I click the link.

I don't know if this is true for you - if it is not then please let me know because, obviously, I can't download it.

Thanks.

OK. Dont rush this. Make sure you understand the principles before getting too ambitious.
Sorry. I should have checked the link to Frhed. SimV has server problems which will affect some downloads until it can be fixed. Meanwhile, try this direct link. http://www.tu-darmstadt.de/~rkibria/frhed156.zip

OK - Got it. I am going away tomorrow for a few days so I am taking the tutorials with me on a laptop, together with my Sea Fury. I'll have a read through it and have a go and it when I come back.

The tutorial refers to FDE - what is this? Should I know this and I just can't think of it?

And I think the process of changing the bits and pieces in the folder is pretty easy - I had already guessed that you must have to change all of the filenames. Anyway I am about to give it a go, so let's see if it works!

This is the free Flight Dynamics Editor by Abacus. You should not need it for this job. If you wish to edit AIR files I find Bill Roth's AirEd much better. http://members.dsl-only.net/~eagle/

Yep - I've already got that. My Sea Fury has 8,500 horsepower ;)

I like to keep things realistic, don't you?  :D

Thanks

Right, now I have got my repaint working I decided to try this tutorial. I have copied a Sea Fury from the hangar folder and modified it as the tutorial explains. Instead of SEAFURY1.*** they are now SFURY1.***. However now that I have completed it the plane shows up on the CFS menu, but does not appear. A picture of the previous selected plane is frozen in the display box. I have had this happening before with Panel and Sound files, but as I have not modified either of these files (they are both aliased to a P47d) I cannot see what the problem is.

Have you any ideas?

OK. I suspect the problem is with the MDL file. If you change the name of the MDL remember to point Model.cfg to it.

Instead of SEAFURY1.*** they are now SFURY1.***.

Please take my advice & use the exact same number of digits for your new file names. SFURY001.*** or SFURY__1.***.  NOT SFURY1.***.
