FSPainter

Postby va_chairman » Mon Jun 09, 2003 8:41 am

This is going to sound stupid, so forgive me.  But I've been reading the posts in the hopes of figuring out how to repaint some blanks.  I've finally found some and now if I could only install the #*$&#$ things, life would be great.

But my question is this...I've read several posts which refer to "FSPainter".  What is this program and where can I find it?  (Assuming it's still worthwhile, that is.)

Thanks!
No, Orville. You went last time.

You have to edit the aircraft.cfg file before a repaint will show up. In the top section you'll see an entry for each texture, like so...

[fltsim.0]
title=ATR 72
sim=atr72
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=folder-number
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id_color=0xffffffffff
atc_id=I-ATMC
ui_manufacturer=ATR
ui_type=ATR 72
ui_variation=Alitalia
description=ATR 72-500
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Alitalia
atc_flight_number=53

Copy and paste one entry in at the end of the variant list. You need to change the items in bold before it'll work. If you leave any entry that matches a previous one, you won't see the aircraft. Texture folders are usually just numbered, but you can name them of you want. texture.jal being one example. Remember to change the fltsim.x number too. Here's an example of a changed section...

[fltsim.5]
title=ATR 72
sim=atr72
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=5
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id_color=0xffffffffff
atc_id=N73G
ui_manufacturer=ATR
ui_type=ATR 72
ui_variation=Wunderkreig
description=ATR 72-500
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Wunderkreig
atc_flight_number=

Have Fun!

thx...I've got them installed.  But does anyone know anything about this FSPainter nonsense?  I can't seem to find it.
