Converting .mdl to .gmax

Postby BrandonF » Mon Jul 27, 2009 6:01 pm

I thought it couldn't be done? I've seen a few default aircraft converted to be used in GMax. How is this done?

Hi Felix

My thought is that these are the availiable source models not decompiled MDLs

I read somewhere the Dak and others were around, something to do with FS.X,  I think But I've never looked into it :-/

IF it's the DAK (DC-3/C-47) heck, that came out with the SDK, and it was converted to gmax over a year ago.  We had it in FSDS about six months before Microsoft had the gmax version on their site.

If it's any of the other defaults, then, other than the FS9 Jenny, I'm not too sure that they would be "legal"  conversions.

There are "tons'  of retextured default aircraft around.  I dare say that most CFS2 aircraft, for example, have been repainted and uploaded for FS2004 ....

The "defaults"  that I've seen have been re-released repaints with the model.  The easiest way to check is viewing the texture names.

When I was researching Hellcat (F6F) models, I saw that *most* out there (at the time 2006) were the CFS2 stock Hellcat ported to FS2004, not true FS2004 new models.
