Beech 17

Postby ShaneG_old » Tue Jul 14, 2009 9:27 pm

Mitch requested that I do a Beech 17 stagger wing for FSX since there isn't one. It didn't look too difficult for a starter project, so I'm giving it a try.  :)

Here's after a bit of fiddling with it:

Still quite a long way off I know, and still a million things I need to learn, but hey, I have to start with something. :D

Keep it up, Shane!  You're getting along just as I was.  Won't be too long before you're screaming "How do I get the nightmares to stop?!"

Here's an exercise, to expose you to an important process. Knowing what's involved down the line; will make you think more about your initial shapes..

Start with a cylinder and sphere.. then use Boolean to join them as one part that LOOKS like that, but has one, smooth, continous surface.. (i.e.. no cylinder insdie of the sphere, and no sphere inside the cylinder).

And for wings and control surfaces. Think of them like cylinders, "squished" so that the circular cross-section, becomes an airfoil..

then use Boolean

I've seen you post about this tool before, if you don't mind, which icon is that, because I've been trying to find the tool that would merge my fuselage parts into one piece. :-[

Oh lordy.. if you try to shape boxes into wings, you're gonna have a mess on your hands
