Newbie Designer - Need a little help with FSDS 3.5

Postby Timm427 » Thu May 29, 2008 6:30 am

I am probably asking the same old questions, but I just need someone to point me in the right directions with 3 issues in FSDS 3.5

1. when I create a curved part it appears normal from one angle but transparent from another. It there a way to make the surfaces appear "normal" from all angles?

2. (May be something to do with 1.) when I create a part that has a concave curve the texture seems to flood over creating a straight line between the commencement of the curve at both ends. This is also only apparent from the left when the right view seems normal or vice versa. Is there a fix or work around for this?

3. Mirror - How do you create a clone of a part that is mirrored?

Where can I buy FSDS 3.5 for dummies dumber friends :-/

I'll take a stab at 1) as it seems to be a problem with the part displaying a surface on one side, but not the other. All that needs doing is to copy the original part, go into polygon mode, select all (polygons for the new part) and then flip them. That took me awhile to understand, how could a part have one side but be invisible on the other?

Thanks CAFedm never thought of that. So far I have been copying a part and slightly offsetting to acheive the same but flipping the polys makes more sense.

"devoted

DEVOTED  wrong word should be SOME OF THE MEMBERS ,or DEDICATED  I think , what I meant to say was like experts ,it a place where are people experts and dedicated in this like DaveNunez ,that what I really want to say...

of course all I have learn ,from max and gmax was from there,I would never done anything if FFDS wouldn't exist ,I always mention it, in all my read me files, wherever and whenever I can , I never get tire to said because Im in gratitude , in dept with that/your site and the most prestigious designers gather there.. The real masters in this; I feel proud to be part of FFDS, Unfortunately my English limitations allow me just ask ,and not help and even though I'm trying to do it here

Timm came up with a question No buddy reply except  himself, I just was trying to help .

Sorry ,  It wasn't my real intentions ,it was a wrong expressed word.
