Contact points

Postby garymbuska » Sun Nov 04, 2007 11:29 pm

I just finished a flight using the default CRJ in FSX and could not help but notice how bad the plane banks when turning I have actually noticed the tires sinking into the run way. Just wandering if any one else has the same problem and what numbers did they change.

Thanks Brett I will give it a try.
I might look at a CRJ that I have in FS2004 as well and see what it uses. One thing for sure is if I can not find a cure it is going to the bone yard as I can not stand a plane that tilts when taxing around corners. I do not mind a little drift but this is nuts! 8-)

That's fine, but remember that the amount of visual travel (animated into the model)is probaly not the same, and you can end up with sinking/floating tires..

Yeah I know and I have to admit that bothers me a little but nothing ventured nothing gained as I always say 8-)
I just downloaded this CRJ from AVSIM it is for FS2004 look at its contact points

Try just increasing the damping from;  .55, .65, .65  ..  to  ..  .65, .75, .75    .. and see what happens.

I tried the values you suggested and they had absolutely no effect at all
Now my question do I have to completely re load the sim to test or is just changing aircraft good enough.

Thanks Felix I was using the reset function on the main menu but was not sure if FSX reloads the aircraft cfg file. Because of the different way FSX seems to load from FS9 I thought it might preload the aircraft cfg files and not reload them unless you restarted FSX. Which I thought would be stupid but then remembered that this is Microsoft ;)
I tried several numbers in the damping area and it seamed not to have any effect at all which made me wonder if the aircraft cfg file was being reloaded. I am going to try some off the wall changes and see what happens. I made a back up of the original file. I will let every know what I discover. 8-)
