Postby machineman9 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 1:38 pm

just a quick question for all of you who do 3D (animation/modelling or whatever)... which programs do you use or have used for 3D?

personally i use:

anim8or
blender (doesnt work tho)
gmax (trying to get render to work)

i have used:

3DS Max 8 (30-day trial)
4D Cinema

KeyCreator, Rhino, and 3DS...

...KeyCreator is still my favorite though.

I can do Gmax too, but it just feels really "limiting" after having used those programs...

Pro Desktop
Punch 3d home design
Gmax
and Ive played around with another home design program but I never fully learned it, and I tried a old aircraft modeler I think for CFS1 or FS98
What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

new in 3Ds Max 9

the old reliable

Gmax (triiyng to skip this one w the xporter) 8-)

the problem for me is that gmax doesnt do anything rendeable or exportable but its nice indeed, cause its so direct to FS

G-max, FSDS (v. occasionally), ProDesktop, MilkShape

And I've used 3ds max before, but i cant afford it  :'(

BTW im having troubles finding a decent Gmax renderer... anybody found one? And how do I set reflect/refract for transparent objects?

there is a way to do it using Max scripts, YafRay(i think) and a whole lot of boring stuff in between to get a rendered still. there is also a way to export as a .obj model too... but that means copying like 15000 lines of object code at about 30lines at a time

You should use G-max Grab, that can get all the lines of code.
