Actually, Alex is right here...

...the unit of measurment doesn't get tagged on until exported, so change the unit to what ever you were building in and it should export in the right size. ;)

The correct method of unit conversion would be to merge your scene into a new one which is set to meters.
That presumes that your original feet scene was allready correct in size.
Just remember that there are two places in Gmax to set units:

1. Customize menu - units setup.
This one is only for display while playing in Gmax.

2. Customzte menu - preferences - General - System unit scale
This is the important one that actually defines your units.

im getting tired of this, i got the plane down to about 1000ft thats after setting it to centimeter, then millimeters after having it at meters,

then while in millimeter mode i had to skrink the model to 1/4 the size, that's how i got it to the 1000ft mark
What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

Hey Falcon. I'm not going to get involved in the maylay. ;D I certainly do'nt want to see the super bomber come out either. You could try this.
1.Open Gmax

2.Go to customize then Units Set Up and change to Feet w/Decimal inches.

3.Go to preferences and change System Unit Scale to meters then check automatic conversion. This may not fix your total scale problem but it will set it up for US to Metric conversion. This way you can model in Feet and inches. If I remember correctly you are from the UP of Michigan and I'm assuming that you would prefer to model in Feet and inches.

4.Now with your units set up open your model and when prompted choose Adopt System Scale this will put you on Feet with decimal inches

5.Next you could use a combination of both suggestions and make a couple of boxes one for length and one for wing span then scale the model down or up. By the way boxes are the way that I measure all my Aircraft CFG inputs because if you do'nt convert it and just leave it a box you can change the height. This way all your measurments are from the flight sim refpoint and are extremely acurate. You just select and rotate the box and move it to where ever you want. (See JPG) Notice the length of the selected box I25 feet 4inches point 07

6.Heres another tip. The flight sim reference point is where your parts start out when you push the create button 0.0X/0.0Y/0.0Z this is the point refered to in the Aircraft CFG. The blue box is at this point (see JPG1) Notice the gizmo is at the height of the grid or 0.0Z this is where you can rotate around and meausure positive forward and negative aft for you CFG entry. You can also move the boxes on any desired plane and the heights stay accurate. The green and purple box are still at the 0.0Y and 0.0X axis(JPG2) and can be used to measure the lateral lengths. You could also use the tape but this is less accurate because of perspective.

Hope some of this helps Greg.
