Modifying the roll rate?

Postby mrjake2002 » Tue Aug 22, 2006 8:05 am

Hi,
I'd like to modify the roll rate of an aircraft. I had the 'Cessna Sport' from here at SimV and that had been modified to be faster and have a quicker roll rate so i know it is possible. If i could i would also like to modify it so that it could travel vertically at a higher speed/without stalling. I know this is un realistic but i just wanna have a little fun ;).

Thanks for any help,
MrJake2002.

You might need to edit the air file so look for a program called AIRED it might be here on simv if not then look in avsim. and then tou have to edit the aircraft cfg file as well but you can use notepad or wordpad to edit this.
You would also have to change the limits for damage so your new speeds and manuevers to not cause a crash 8)

This example was taken from a Mig-15, this principle can be used for any aircraft. Not that all the other control surfaces can be changed too, to affect certain performance aspects.

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar=1.0
parasite_drag_scalar=1.0
induced_drag_scalar=1.0
elevator_effectiveness=1.0
aileron_effectiveness=1.0
rudder_effectiveness=1.0
pitch_stability=1.0
roll_stability=1.0
yaw_stability=1.0
elevator_trim_effectiveness=1.0
aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.0

Not the aileron_trim_effectiveness.. the aileron_effectiveness.. Also, you can reduce the roll_stability and roll MOI..

EDIT:  Or... you can increase the aileron surface area and deflections ,  up and down..
