CVA has a utility to convert FSDS source files to dxf that can be imported into gmax directly.

The Stupid Idiot's Guide to gmax is the "best" all around gmax tutorial for building airplanes.

Other tutorials, etc. are found at Freeflight Design Shop

The basics of creating a VC in gmax and fsds are the same.  With gmax, you can take advantage of xml coding for VC animations, etc.

3, Any tuts on how to apply textures

See the FFDS site.  Also, there is no substitute to going through the gmax tutorials.

4, How to go from Gmax into FS9 + CFS3 + CFS2

At the beginning, pray a lot.

Make sure you have and read the gmax, Aircraft Container, and Creating Aircraft SDKs.  You must have the appropriate converters/plugins installed.  Unlike FSDS, you manually have to create the aircraft folder structure and cfg files.  This is where  FSEdit comes in the grand scheme of flightsim things, but the conventional wisom is that using FSEdit is counterproductive.

My opinion, don't delete FSDS.  If anything, create a basic aircraft plan - your reference parts, etc., in FSDS and compile the model.  That way, you only have to worry about compiling your visual model and tweaking, not creating all the files...

Thanks for any help

 Your enthusiasm shows.

BTW - The "Stupid Idiot's Guide to Gmax" is actually hosted in Simviation!
