Postby hvgvh » Tue Jun 07, 2005 4:23 pm

i've downloaded GMAX from KINETIX.com, i've succesfully installed it, but when i import any .3ds file and try to export, it doesn't show any .mdl file type option, so i only have an .gmax file, unable to become mdl... am i missing something? is there anything left i didn't downloaded? please help me!!!  :-[ :-[ :-[

You're missing the correct gamepack which you need to load from the Microsoft FS2004 downloads section - (see the topmost " sticky"  thread for the link).

Basically, gmax *by itself* is a stand alone modelling program, useless except when a gamepack is installed.  Gamepacks are developed by gaming companies for the users to create content for their games.

Yes, but you have to be careful.  Not all FS9 animation tags (especially the newer XML /VC animations) are recognized by CFS2.

If you're going to model for CFS2, make sure you also download the CFS2 SDKs (somewhere on the MS sites/ I'm sure someone will come to the rescue).

don't forget to grab the Middleman and MDL commander programs too...

without them you can't properly set the export options, plus they add to the general export stability and successfullness ;)

not quite sure where to get them though... try googling their names

i've downloaded those .exes (middleman and mdlcommander) and when i export, it generates a 1kb .x file (unlikely size, uh?), i try to convert that .x into a .mdl using makemdl (is that the right way?) but i get an error instead a .mdl file!!  :'( :'(

please somebody tell me step by step what i must do to get an airplane

thanks
