Project Enzo Ferrari

Postby Katahu » Sat Mar 19, 2005 12:35 pm

This is to let you all know that Project Ferrari is on hold until further notice.

Reason: I had to clean out my entire computer and reinstall Windows XP.

Reason for this: Either my computer likes me or hates me. ::) More than likely it likes me. :P

Luckily, before this ever happened, I bought an 80GB external hard drive [98$ at the BX] and had managed to save all the important files and data to the hard drive before cleaning out my computer. All I need to do now is reinstall the needed applications [including Gmax].

For the time being, I am using a public computer so that I can gain access to the internet.

Just to let you all know.

Well everybody, I guess I have no choice but to use the infamous 56k dail-up moden. It was fun using the high-speed wireless access, but now I am forced to use that annoying phone line again.

So much for 56k dial up. The public library I go to [the only one in which I can reach] mainly uses broadband and wireless connection. They say they don't have a number to go by for dail-up users.

I guess my laptop [which has all the data and files] won't have access to the internet for a VERRRRRRYYYYYY LOOOOOONG time. :-[ I'm now stuck with these public computers.

Atleast I can let you know on my progress.

What has been done:
1. driver model has been replaced with a new frame-rate friendly female-driver model.
2. 2D panel has been improved.
3. Exterior surface texture has been slightly modified and a new SimViation repaint [as a tribute] is being created.

What needs to be done:
1. Sound files are still neede, but I still has to figure out how to get them to my laptop. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
2. Appropriate gauge files are still needed.
3. I'm reading some tutorials regarding night-lighting for DVC panels and the new aircraft animations. I might try the window-rain effects that came with the new 2004 SDK.

Well, even though the internet is inaccessable from my laptop, I am already continueing work on the Ferrari.

I finally got the hang of the night-light textures [ex: *_l.bmp]. The interior looks real nice. It's just too bad I can't post any screenies right now.

As for the rain effects, I still can't get the hang of it. I got that links setup properly in Gmax, but I can't seem to link the rain textures [located in the main textures folder of FS9] to the appropriate object in Gmax without negatively affecting the rain textures themselves [they have alpha channels applied] and I don't have DXTBmp. Just the old Imagetool that came with latest Mdl SDK. But I still don't know how to apply Alphas with this tool. Can anyone help me on this part?
