You really don't need mdlcomander or middleman for the FS9 gamepack. But it sounds like you do need to read the docmentation "gmaxAircraftCreation.doc", "MakeMDL.doc" and "GMax Materials.doc" that come in the SDKs.

Materials are all set in gMax now and there is seldom any reason to have to check anything off in makemdl unless you need to keep and modify the source files which, unless you understand MASM language, is not something you'd likely be doing.

As for your "Can't Find Makemdl" error message, this is usually a generic  error and means you need to look at the "model_name.log" file in the directory you are exporting to and it is usually something about your model that makemdl doesn't like.

thanks for the info Firestriker  but as i ma running window me and can not open the doc from the games pack bit hard really

i did have the plug's sent to me last year and found that they work really well i know how to do the spec on the materials editor in gmax  but every time i try to do a chrome tex it shows up as see through depending on how dark i adjust the alpha if its a very light grey i get some relfection but it's not really good so adjust it to a darker setting and i lose the tex just turn's up see through

You can still get a version of the standalone Word viewer for older operating systems at:

http://volusia.org/word.htm

As for your reflective texture, be sure it is assigned to the specular color map slot in the material editor as the image above shows. Althought it is not necessarly required anymore, I also think it is a good idea for any texture that has an alpha channel for reflective use to have the _t.bmp extension and is in DXT3 format. So use files like fuselage1_t.tga in gMax and fuselage1_t.bmp in your aircrafts texture directory. Also remember you'll need an fuselage1_l.bmp for dusk/night/dawn blending or things do become transparant.
