Controlling exhaust effects in CFS2

Postby Merlin66 » Thu Jan 27, 2005 2:56 pm

Got asked a question I can't answer. Maybe someone out there has the answer.
I use an exhaust effect on the YAS spitfires which is always "ON". I can't find any way of linking it to "engine start" so that it only shows when the engine is running. I guess in FS2004 there may be XML options but what about CFS2?????

Hi Merlin
Afraid not  in FS9 effects are tied into the light/smoke system and linked to engine via xml. In cfs2 they are tied into the damage system. The only way I found how to do em was to model a cone in fsds which was transperent and emissive and linked to prop rotation, but even that was done with sldedit and fsds1(thnk in ver 2 prop_rpm is broken well it is for fs9)the only other way would be to use the panel lighting effect in cfs2,then get somebody to make C+ gauge that switched on the panel light when engine started
Cheers
