Project Ferrari

Postby Katahu » Tue Jan 04, 2005 8:21 pm

I have been spending time trying to figure out how to model the complex [and no doubt confusing] interior of this car. But now, I have finally figured out most of the pieces for this puzzle.

This is the Interior model.

This gives a good view of the console, dashboard, and pedals.

The steering wheel was made in a separate scene with a plane object textured with a photo of the steering wheel. This is the best steering wheel I have made yet. I am thinking of implimenting this method so that I can improve the steering wheel of the Porsche model.
Image

The top parts of the seats are made out of a box object with extruded lower and mid sections. The holes were extruded inward [no boleen was used through the course of the project]. The meshsmooth modifier was then added. For FPS-friendliness, I set the itterations to "2" for the interior model and "1" for the exterior model.

Just like the Porsche model, the Ferrari model will also represent its real-world counterpart.

3-view diagrams were only used to create just the basic body of the model. From that point on, photos were only used as a reference.

Nice!  ;D

While we're designing vehicles for FS9, can anyone design a photoreal late-'70s Ford F150 truck for FS? I can provide tons of photos of my own truck  ;)

These pics show the Exterior model.

Doors and rear hood are animated

The engine is going to be the most teadious of all. So many parts and all. I got some good pics with really good angles on the engine.

There's a good chance I might create a new driver for this car. I still need to refine my skills for character modeling.

Modeling cars is one thing. Getting some pretty-good textures is a different story.

List of textures that I am looking for:
1. Vinyl - for dashboard and such
2. Leather - for seats
3. Floor

Not a big list, but these textures seam to be hard to get. I can copy and paste them from the pics, but it will be a mission to maintain the uniformity of the texture. I ran into that problem once when I made the vinyl for the Mercedes.
