Jet Exhaust Idea

Postby reg2 » Mon Dec 27, 2004 2:21 am

I was just thinking, it would be great if someone could mod fs2004 to add exhaust to jets. Special effects like this can be seen in half life 2 as the propane gas.

They already exist, all you have to do is search the main download sites.
Before I stopped playing FS, I had several downloaded and in use.

Ah, that sort of heat blur thing: guess I misunderstood.
Sadly this sort of thing would be impossible to make for the M$FS series.

how about a rotating "glass" cylinder which is nearly transparent and has a distorted surface? it could be named as an engine part that keeps turning on jets (don't know what it is and i'm too lazy to open the sdk)...

that might work but its looks better the other way. they even have it for the helicopters in joint operations escalation.  its would look so great in back of a blue angels f18

Well the fact that different games have it doesnt mean it's possible in this one..

I remember that back in FS2000 there was a fictional Boeing 575 (yes i got the numbers right ;)) and what it did was it had a transparent cylinder on the back of the engines with black lines on them, and it spun around slowly, and really accomplished the effect nicely...

I have found something that does have this effect for your aircraft and the AI. Check this download out to see if you like it FS2004 and FS2002 FX: Nick's A-I JET Exhaust with Cointrol Gauge. Hanging around the airport watching the A-I traffic and chasing A-I jet aircraft just got a little more interesting. Enjoy watching your entire A-I jet fleet as they display engine heat shimmer effects -after- push-back from the terminal and during taxi to the active runway. ftp://63.217.28.218/1misc/NicksAIjetExhaust.zip

mhmh, some interesting ideas there. I think the way cfs3 did it was to have many different white and black particles buzzing around, creates a sort of distortion effect- but games that have it, like lomac, have it built into the engine. While it could've been done with fs9, i dont think the right code has been written in. but then i'm not a coder for fs9. but, its a selling point- graphics are everything. so, if it were possible to have lomac style effects im sure the option would bet here.

downloading 'nicks effects' now to take a look, cheers
