help needed with a sh3 project

hi well i ve got to the stage were i need some one who has been using gmax for a whuile and know's there way around it better than me i have been wirking on model for some time now but have run in to the wall with it !!  ??? it an addon for the heilcopter lads depending on if i find some one to help me with this we will see which comes out

what you have is 2 sikorsky sh3a's to play with and a apollo command capsule after splash down with one of the sh3's lowering the rescue swimmer to the water

i am not to sure what is going on with make mdl as this keeps telling me that if fails to convert it in to an mdl or blg i have a test model of a shuttle that works ok with make mdl and creats an mdl for it  hopefully you can see the screen shots i have taken for you to see so anyone can help please let me know

Is this intended to be scenery or an actual flying aircraft?  If its a flyable aircraft, you're going about this the wrong way.

hi ender the sh3's will be flying aircraft as for the cm capsule i think that that will have to be a scenery i can not see that anyone would want to fly the cm capsule to splash down ( but you never know ) what i would like to do really is have a scenery that your looking form the deck of the uss hornet and can see the capsule floating down to splash down then your able to fly one or both of the sh3's over to it to reinact the recovery i am not sure if your able to do all of this with fs9 at present or if you  can thats why i am asking for help with the sh3 at the moment get that up and running then see what i could do with some help as for the rest of it

For starters, what program is that I'm looking at in those images?  The grid and rotator thigie look like Gmax, but the background looks like FS.

If it is Gmax, then you are on a really bad track for your objective.  You first need to create the Sikorsky's (or don't, people can download their favorite for something like this) and then create the scenery (the capsule).  They need to be in two completely seperate files, and exported completely different.

As for how to make the thing come down and splash, that's a hard one.  I'm not sure what to do here, as it isn't really a function of FS or Gmax to have something like that in them.  I thought about making the thing AI, but it would just hit the water and disappear (no engines, no wings = falling rock!)

Not sure where to go from here.  Why don't you show me more images and see if I'm missing something here.

ok ender

1 the sh3 is near completed it is in gmax just have to finish off the cockpit area as was not happy with the version in the screen shot's
2 the sh3 around for fs9 are for 2002 and dont show the rotor blades moving . so no good there the s61's are to bigg and not the right type al tho saying that they are good models
3 the back ground is from fs9 just dropped it in for screen shot's thats all

4 with the sh3 there will be 2 versions of them one is the number 66 and the other will be number 60 from the uss hornet those 2 sh3 were the main recovery heil's for the apollo era and are in most pictures you see them in all tho number 66 did crash in the 70's i belive that the crew did all get out and the sh3 was lost to the deep 6
5 i have been toying with the idea of the cm being a aircraft but would not have engine or wings but would be able to float if the contact points were correct
but how would you place it in postion ?
going that route
only way is to be a scenery object really
can you animate a scenery object???
would think that you would lose it once on the water
with that route???

say ie you sh3 is on the carrier thats on the water
and stays there?
so you should be able to make the cm stay on the water

7 sh3 are woking animtions at present all rotor's are turning ,which door opening, landing gear retracting ,swimmer is lowering, not sure if you can animate him any further ???
ie  mean animate him so he swim's from rescue harness to lift raft with fs9?
think that part might not be poss??


if i can animate a scenery file then i can animte the cm with chutes opening at a high alt to spalsh down just depends on how fs9 runs the sceny and how bigg the scene limit's are?

with the 2 version of the sh3 i might do them as a working pair so you can see the other one from main cabin window or cockpit window depending on the view you take

have an old download of 2 hornets with each other but they are for ai aircraft mainly

when finished with cockpit area will post screnny for you to look at
or you can contact me via email addy from the site as your able to look mine up
can send test file to you to advise on
