texturing the outside of a tube

Postby hsvfan » Mon Oct 11, 2004 7:08 pm

Hi All
I have created tube and I want to texture just the left outside of the tube. When I go to place the texture on the tube the texture covers the inside and outside of the tube. How do I go about just texturing one side of the tube and not the whole the thing . Does anyone have an easy step by step method.
Thanks

1. Select all of the polygons you want to have textured differently in subobject selection mode.

2. Click the "Detach" button and name the new object.

3. Texture as you would any other object.

If the two must be recombined then you can just click "Attach" and select the object, then read the following instructions.  But there is no compelling reason to do so, as they will simply be a part of the aircraft anyway.

Thanks Ender
Tried that and it  works well. I am just about to start texturing the model I am working on, and the other question I have is, thats the best way to creat new textures. I only have mspaint and pixia, is there a tutorial you can recommend for first timers on creating textures.

Thanks
