Hi Nico,
Sorry about the late reply, I've been busy. :-)
TBH I have no idea how I managed to get away with 85,000 polys. I have since edited the model to produce a crop sprayer version and it is now apparently just over 95,000 polys. I'm beginning to think that GMAX is lying!
A much simpler model, in terms of ply count (30,000) refused to compile when I tried to add a VC. Complained about errors in vertices. The VC is a clone of the original, how can ther suddenly be errors in vertices? Beats me. :-/
I make all my models with an ancient Amiga 3D rendering program called Imagine. It can output in DFX format and so I then import the model part by part into GMAX, texturing as I go. I then use GMAX to do all the animation, MakeMDL (via Middleman) to export as a MDL file. I get about 90% success withexporting but there have been some models that just refuse to compile while others that shouldn't, compile without any fuss at all. Go figure. :-}
I am REALLY looking forward to your R44.
Best wishes.
